With more than 32 years of clinical experience, Timothy Sparrow is a UK-trained and registered senior osteopath, lecturer, and allied health professional with an international background in osteopathic education, clinical practice, and research.
Throughout his career, Tim has contributed to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate osteopathic programmes across the UK and Europe. He has held teaching and supervisory roles at the Surrey Institute of Osteopathic Medicine (NESCOT, UK) and the John Wernham International Academy of Classical Osteopathy, 1990-97 in Belgium.
During his time living in Belgium, he worked for several years as a healthcare professional alongside a group of General Practitioners in Wijgmaal, near Leuven. In addition, he provided osteopathic treatment to patients referred by a rehabilitation specialist affiliated with the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Research Unit at the University of Leuven.
He has delivered keynote speaker congress presentations and masterclasses for osteopaths, physiotherapists, and allied healthcare professionals internationally. He is also the co-author of “Classical Osteopathy and the Body Adjustment – An Historical Concept,” published in the AAO Journal, 2021.The AAO Journal is the official publication of the American Academy of Osteopathy.
Tim’s academic interests also focus on emerging health technologies, 3D medical printing, remote and point-of-care health monitoring , and research-driven approaches to fall prevention.
Fields of research have included that of post operative osteopathic rehabilitation for patients receiving spinal disc (hemilaminectomy) surgery and the application of osteopathy as an adjunct to exercise gaming as a means to address sarcopenia and fall prevention amongst senior adults .
